Accessibility Testing Specialist
As an Accessibility Testing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that digital products and services are inclusive and accessible to individuals with diverse abilities. You will be responsible for evaluating and testing web applications, software, and digital content to identify and address accessibility barriers. The successful candidate will collaborate with development teams, designers, and stakeholders to implement and advocate for inclusive design principles and accessibility best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Accessibility Testing:
Conduct thorough accessibility assessments and evaluations on various digital platforms, including web applications, mobile apps, and software products.
Utilize industry-standard testing tools and methodologies to identify and address accessibility issues.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and content creators, to integrate accessibility considerations throughout the development lifecycle.
Provide guidance and support to teams in implementing accessible design and development practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
Document and communicate accessibility findings, recommendations, and best practices to project teams.
Generate comprehensive accessibility reports and maintain clear records of testing processes and outcomes.
Training and Advocacy:
Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate teams on accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Advocate for accessibility awareness and foster a culture of inclusion within the organization.
Stay Current with Accessibility Standards:
Stay informed about the latest accessibility guidelines, standards, and regulations, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and assistive technologies.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in ongoing research and development initiatives to enhance accessibility testing processes and tools.
Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the evolution of accessibility testing methodologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in accessibility testing, with a strong understanding of WCAG guidelines and other relevant accessibility standards.
Familiarity with assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice recognition software, and magnification tools.
Proficient in using accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Axe, and WAVE.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
Certifications in accessibility testing or related areas would be a plus.
